Synopsis

The main purpose of this study is to describe the technologyintegrated reading program called the Readmaster Plus to develop the reading rate and comprehension levels of young readers. The descriptive method of research was employed in this study to find out the growth in these reading elements after months of being in the program. The Readmaster Program Report Charts and Progress Records showed how the pupils improved in terms of reading rate and comprehension, owing to the effectiveness of the program as it helped in the development of their reading proficiency. Majority of the respondents performed better in the 3rd quarter as compared to their performance in the 2nd quarter by performing several types of reading like that of independent reading, repeated reading, guided reading, and reading aloud. These were performed by the pupils with the guidance and direction of the teacher regularly which aided the pupils to face the Readmaster Plus with ease and more confidence in performing their weekly reading sessions. The Grade 2 Level 1A pupils became more fluent readers in the 3rd quarter because their reading proficiency had improved. The program being found helpful in improving the rate and comprehension of young learners, it is therefore recommended to try out the Readmaster Program to other grade levels with attention on vocabulary, comprehension, and writing skills for literacy development.
