Synopsis

How does a learner acquire a second language? This question is a subject of heated academic discussions since the phenomena of second language acquisition (SLA) draw interests from scholars and academicians alike.  One major construct that gained ground in SLA literature is noticing (Schmidt, 1990; Sharwood-Smith, 1981; Ellis, 1999; Krashen, 1998; and Swain, 1995).
