PowerPoint-Aided Supplementary Reading Lessons For Comprehension Skills Development of High School Sophomores

Synopsis

The main purpose of this study is to develop PowerPoint-aided supplementary reading lessons that will be useful in teaching reading comprehension skills among high school sophomores. This will also analyze the students' comprehension difficulties in reading. The researcher underwent a certain procedure to gather the data. She first went to the Principal of Parañaque National High School to ask permission to obtain the data by providing the subject with the copies of research instrument together with the letter explaining the purpose of the research. The researcher conducted an evaluation test to 50 Second Year students of a 5 sections (10 students per section) using the Mid-Year assessment test for Second Year given by the Division office of Parañaque. The test focused on eight (8) reading comprehension skills: Making Inference, Author's point of view, Identifying character's feeling, Identifying characters trait, Inferring through context clues, Identifying figure of speech, Identifying sensory image, and Arranging words alphabetically.
