Exploring the Influences of Gender, Teacher Traits, and Parental Involvement on the Interest and Performance of Grade Six Pupils in Mathematics

This study zeroed in on the provision of evidences in the relationship between pupils mathematics interest and their mathematics performance. The evidences of mathematics interest were related to gender, parental involvement, and teacher's traits. The mathematics performance of the pupils was based on seatworks, quizzes, and quarterly examination. The study was conducted among ninety-six (96) Grade 6 pupils of San Sebastian College Manila during the Third Quarter of the School Year 2013-2014. There were 60 grade six boys and 36 grade six girls. The study found out that there is no gender difference when it comes to mathematics interest among grade 6 pupils. Similarly, the factors of parental involvement and teachers' traits show significant relationship with the mathematics interest of the grade six pupils. Lastly, the mathematics interest of the pupils is significantly correlated with their mathematics performance.
