Assessment of Existing Student Programs and Services of a College at Caloocan City: Basis for the Enhancement of a Student Handbook
Synopsis
The main purpose of this study was to assess the existing student programs and services of the college which includes: Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives; Admission and Retention; Administration and Organization; Guidance and Counseling Services; Co-Curricular and Extra Curricular Programs; Scholarship Program; and Student Development Program. Based on the perceptions of the respondents, research gaps where identified and as revealed by the gathered data, the said gaps were used as basis for the development of the proposed enhancement of the student handbook of the college. Four hundred twenty nine (429) participants comprised this study conducted in the School Year 2014-2015. Five (5) were deans which belongs to the top management, seventy (70) faculties, twelve (12) admin staffs and three hundred forty two (342) were the graduating students. The study employed the descriptive-development type of research using the survey questionnaire developed by Dr. Fortunato Vendivel Jr. (2011). The researcher used the Likert scale of 1 to 4 also known as 'forced Likert Scale'. The information gathered through the instrument, which revealed the research gaps and perceptions of the respondents on the different areas of concern on the college's student programs and services, became the basis of developing an enhanced student handbook.
