Best Practices in Managing Classes Outside Regular Classroom Setting

This descriptive study was conducted to determine the best practices in managing classes outside regular classroom setting for the purpose of developing guidelines in managing classes (motivation, discipline and teaching strategies) outside regular classroom setting for Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) High School teachers in Metro Manila. Data from focus group discussion (FGD) involving department heads, TLE teachers and students was used to develop a survey questionnaire. Using the survey questionnaire, eight (8) department heads, twenty (20) TLE teachers and two hundred eighty (280) students of Sergio Osmeña Sr. High School were surveyed on TLE teachers' practices outside regular classroom setting (ORCS). Descriptive statistics revealed the following are the identified best practices in ORCS: for practices in motivation-intrinsic, for practices in student discipline-Group Managerial Approach, and for teaching strategy-visual method. Perceptions of best practices vary among department heads, TLE teachers and students.
