Readiness for Effective Implementation of K to 12 Science Curriculum of Philippine Schools in Qatar
Synopsis
The study investigates the readiness of Philippine schools in Qatar for effective implementation of K to 12 Science Curriculum in terms of six (6) domains, namely, physical facilities, instruction, content, support to students, library and instructional materials and administration. Two hundred seventy-seven (277) high school students of Philippine International School Qatar (PISQ) out of a population of 896; and 281 high school students of Philippine School Doha (PSD) out of a population of 948 enrolled during the school year 2015-2016 served as the student-respondents. All HS administrators and HS Science teachers of both schools also served as respondents. The studentparticipants were chosen through random sampling technique. The descriptive-survey research method with a five-point Likert scale divided into two parts: Part I-Respondent's Profile and Part II-Respondent's Perception, was employed. The data gathered in this study were treated statistically with the use of frequency and percentage; and descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation. Major finding of the study reveals that Philippine schools in Qatar are ready to effectively implement the K to 12 Science curriculum as perceived by their immediate stakeholders, but the high standard deviations of the responses suggest that improvements must be made on all areas with emphasis on physical facilities, and library and instructional materials.
