Synopsis

Co-curricular activities have been accepted as a regular part and norm of schooling, yet seldom have they been studied, particularly how they serve in the development of academic skills of students. Hence, this descriptive study was conducted among 42 ESL students to describe the relationship of language-related co-curricular activities (LRCCA) on their productive skills in language- speaking and writing. Using a survey questionnaire and a rubric for rating their skills in these areas, the study was able to determine the level of involvement in LRCCAs and the perceived effects on their grades and productive skills in English. Further, the use of Pearson Product Moment of Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) confirms the relationship between LRCCA involvement and the students' performance rating in speaking and writing.
