Heuristics in Solving Nonroutine Problems of Selected Students in San Pablo City Science High School

Synopsis

The main purpose of this special project was to identify the heuristics and performance of selected students in a public city science high school (ESEP) in solving nonroutine problems (NRPs). The study also aimed to compare and analyze the consistency of Krulik and Rudnick's 5-Stage Heuristic Model (1996) against the solutions and answers of the students in the NRPs. These NRPs are problems that require higher order thinking skills among students and the use of their conceptual understanding and procedural knowledge of Mathematics concepts.
