Unraveling the "Wild Heart" in Select Asia and African Novels: A Socio-Psychological Perspective

The researcher made use of the descriptive-analytical research design to explicate and interpret qualitative data extracted from the select novels. The analysis was facilitated by Kurt Lewin's Field Theory of Human Behavior, expressed in symbolic terms, B = f (P, E) whereas; behavior (B) is the function of both the person (P) and the environment (E) and supplemented by Emile Durkheim's Functionalism.
Other instruments used in the study consisted of the criteria for choosing the novels: 1) the novels must exhibit an extreme trial confronted by the characters; 2) the novels must come from countries bearing a colonial past - Asia and Africa; 3) the novels must have a strong major or prominent character, 4) the novels must be written in English or must have an English translated version, 5) there must be equal representation of men and women writers; and 6) the novels must be written by contemporary novelists those written from 1960s to present.
