The Multimodal Still Visual Comprehension Processing of Elementary Teachers as ESL Readers
Synopsis
The study sought to describe the comprehension processing of 14 Ilocano elementary teachers as ESL readers of multimodal still visuals using the think-aloud method as data-gathering technique in a grounded theory research design. Verbal protocol data were collected using three different stimulus texts. Data were subsequently analyzed and coded in three sectional rounds which include open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. A total of 42 different sets of verbal protocols were gathered as basis for the establishment of a grounded theory on multimodal still visual comprehension processing.
