A Tracer Study on ATEM-Plus Graduates Part 1

The Accelerated Teacher Education Model (ATEM), an alternative pre-service Teacher Education program, was launched by the College of Education at the start of secondsemester, SY1998-1999. At the end of its sixthsemester, the University turned out the first batch of ATEM graduates (n=30) in March 2002.   In June 2004, the University formed the secondbatch of ATEM class (n=26) after the approval of the ATEM revised curriculum which henceforth shall be called as ATEM-PLUS. The ATEM-PLUSprogram aims to produce graduates who:   1. have a competitive academic edge over other graduates with a bachelor’s and Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degrees in elementary education;   2. are equipped with advanced professional pedagogical orientation for research and instructional leadership among peers in elementary level teaching; and   3. may help fill the needsof faculty inthe Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs).
