Assessment

_{This learning pack aims to present Standard-Based Assessment (SBA) and how this is important in the realization of K+12 curriculum goals specifically in the Sciences. It highlights authentic assessment which brings students to real world scenarios. This assessment strategy appraises students’ preparedness to face real world situations and problems. The learning pack includes three (3) lessons. Lesson 1 is focused on SBA while lesson 2 introduces as sessment and grading sys tem in K+12 curriculum. Lesson 2 presents the levels of assessment and levels of proficiency as prescribed by the Department of Education. Lesson 3 provides good deal of information on authentic assessment. The learning pack comes with activities that would train teachers in the three basic foci of assessment in K+12: (1) SBA; (2) Assessment and Grading System in K+12; and (3) Authentic Assessment. These will be very helpful in preparing the teachers to design assessment strategies anchored on SBA’s GRASPS framework which may be significant in derivation of evidences of learning in K+12 curriculum. Finally, a holistic summary is also provided to wrap up the whole pack as well as to jump start the next learning pack.}
