The Use of Schema And Reader-Response Theories in the Development of a Module in Teaching World Literature
Synopsis
The present study developed a reading module for World Literature teaching that utilized the Schema and Reader-Response theories . Specifically, the module is designed to integrate prior knowledge ( Schema Theory ) and Reader - response approaches - Stanley Fish and Jonathan Culler's "literary competence", Wolfgang Iser's "literary gaps" and Norman Holland's "identity theme". The module was used to learners who are taking World Literature subjects at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
