Knowledge and Teaching Skills of Mathematics Teachers in FVR National High School of Norzagaray, Bulacan: Basis for an Enhancement Program

The pressure for improving the teaching of mathematics overlooks key factors: the teacher's knowledge and teaching skills. This descriptive study aimed to know the level of knowledge and teaching skills of mathematics teachers in FVR National Highschool to be used as basis in recommending appropriate enhancement programs. The assessment of the mathematics teachers themselves revealed that they were high in terms of teacher's knowledge and teaching skills. This means that mathematics teachers in FVR National High School have mastery of the subject matter; have broad knowledge of the pedagogical content; and they are well prepared for teaching instruction. Furthermore, this means that mathematics teachers were effective in their classroom management. They use appropriate instructional materials in teaching of mathematics. Also, they used suitable teaching strategies.
