Collaborative Expertise Experiences in Values Education During the Pilot Implementation of MATATAG Curriculum
Synopsis
This study explored the role of collaborative expertise in Values Education during the pilot implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum in the sole city pilot implementer, employing a hermeneutic phenomenological approach to explore the lived experiences, perceived benefits and meaning, challenges, notable practices, and inputs from the participants. The findings highlight that collaborative expertise significantly enhances educational practices by delineation of roles, standardizing teaching strategies, and fostering continuous professional development. Despite significant challenges encountered, participants demonstrated mutual support and proactive initiatives. Notably, the teachers expressed a strong desire to allocate more time and attention to collaborative expertise, recognizing its central role in both teachers’ professional growth and personal well-being, and as it enhances content and teaching practices, and it ultimately could improve student learning outcomes.
