A Comparative Analysis of Senior High STEM Students’ Perceptions of Collaborative and Self Explanation Strategies in Solving Physics
Synopsis
The collaborative strategy and self-explanation strategy are two learning strategies that can be used to solve physics problems. In this study, researchers will determine the perceived effectiveness of these two learning strategies in solving physics problems. Previous research has found that most students view physics as challenging and complex. These perceptions lead to a lack of interest in physics and can impact their ability to solve physics problems effectively. This study will employ a qualitative research design to explore and compare the perceptions of Senior High STEM students regarding collaborative and self-explanation strategies for enhancing problem-solving skills. To achieve the research objectives, data collection will follow three main steps: a systematic literature review, interviews with STEM students and teachers, and document analysis of student work solutions. To ensure ethical compliance, permission will be obtained from school administrators, and informed consent will be secured from students, parents, and teachers before conducting interviews and collecting student work samples. The results of this study can contribute to academic knowledge, inform educational policy-making, and support national educational development.
