Synopsis

Access to clean and safe water is a global priority, with Sustainable Development Goal 6 aiming to ensure water and sanitation for all. In the Philippines, where the textile industry is actively striving, concerns with wastewater treatment are faced with more pressing challenges. This study examines the application of irradiation technology, particularly in gamma and Electron Beam Irradiation (EBI) as an advanced treatment option for dye-containing wastewater concerned with feasibility and application under institutional settings. Taking from both global and local literature, this study reviews water sustainability issues, Gamma and EBI's underlying concepts, and its effectiveness in treatment of the dye-containing wastewater. It also examines the supporting case for integration between irradiation and currently existing sanitation frameworks to promote environmental goals that can drive sustainable water use within academic communities. The findings aim to support the implementation of efficient dye-containing wastewater treatment technologies in different institutions to promote safe water reuse, sustainability, and public health.
