Synopsis

The main purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of Predict- Observe-Explain (POE) Approach in enhancing the achievement and attitudes of grade five students over the traditional method of instruction. This study was conducted in G. Gatchalian Elementary School-Las Pinas City during the third grading period of the school year 2012-2013. This study employed the Repeated Measures Two Factors Design also known as Quasi-Experimental Design. The subjects are two intact sections of grade five comprising the experimental group exposed to POE Approach and the control group which was subjected to traditional method of instruction.The instruments employed in the study include the Lesson Plans, POE Tasks, Achievement Test, Learning Science Attitude Inventory (LSAI), and other additional parameters in the study such as student's profile, rubric in evaluating the POE activities, and observation checklist.
