Late Life Goals Among Women in Poverty

Life Goals have been studied for the past decades to investigate human motivation and strivings. However, only few researches have been conducted on life goals among people in late life as compared to other human developmental stages. The present inquiry explored on late life goals among women in poverty, and reported these people's life goals, threats to actualization of life goals and ways of pursuing their life goals. Seven participants aging from 65 to 85 years old, all living with a family member listed as recipient of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and residing within Metro Manila for more than five years have undergone face-to-face interviews. The socioeconomic status of an individual affects their goals in life; it poses various threats, unique contents, and too vague means of actualizing life goals. Being in late life contributes largely to one's possibility of pursuing goals; it either puts pressure on the individual or to younger family members.
