What Men and Women Want: Mate Preferences of Filipino Young Adults in Selecting a Marriage Partner

Marriage is a form of establishing long-term relationships between men and women. Men and women look for different characteristics in a partner that they consider marrying. Through survey, this study determined the mate preferences of Filipino young adults in a marriage partner. The results indicated that men and women look for the same characteristics in a spouse but the latter is more demanding in selecting a marriage partner. These preferences also affect the strategies both sexes employ in attracting a mate and their position on these characteristics affect the characteristics that they demand their marriage partner to have.
