Synopsis

Studies had already addressed academic dishonesty and cheating which are solely about the students. However, there was little to no research that addresses academic servers and their life. This research aims to look at the life of an academic server. The academic servers were sampled through their platform and message privately to get consent and data. The data was gathered through written narratives of academic servers which were then read and familiarized by the researcher to come up with codes then themes to describe the findings of the study. The study identified pivotal moments (reasons to start and discovery of academic serving), present experiences (opportunities, challenges, motivations, and aspirations), and implications of the reasoning of the academic server to Kohlberg’s theory of moral development. In conclusion, the study provides valuable insights into the lives of academic servers, highlighting the reasons individuals engage in academic serving and how they discover this practice.
