Professional Conduct of Teachers in Public Secondary Schools: Basis for Enhanced Learning Action (LAC) Guidelines

Being duly licensed professionals, the level of professional conduct of teachers describes how they abide by the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers (CEPT). The level of professional conduct of teachers is attributed to the practice of professional conduct in the schools. The study is a descriptive research using the measures of central tendency (frequency count, mean, weightedmean). Through purposive and convenience sampling techniques, 139 teachers served as respondents of the study. Results revealed that the level of professional conduct of the teacher-respondents is high (the teacher and the State, the teacher and the community, the teacher and the profession, the teacher and the associates, the teacher and the school official, the teacher and the learners, and the teacher and the parents) and the level of practice of professional conduct in the schools is also high. However, the attributes in moderately high level indicate the needs of the teachers in professional conduct requiring an appropriate intervention. The overall results of this study were the basis for the development of enhanced LAC guidelines.
