Framework for a Continuing Professional Development Program of Teachers

Synopsis

The main purpose of this study was to develop a framework for a continuing professional development program of teachers. Specifically, it assessed teachers' performance based on their core behavioral skills and competencies rating. The questionnaire used as its main instrument was adapted from DepEd's Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form. The sample participants were consisted of 199 which is the total population of elementary teachers in the locale of the study. The research design employed was descriptive developmental since it described and interpreted processes that involved systematic study of designing, developing, reviewing, and evaluating processes that must meet criteria of internal consistency and effectiveness. Based on the findings of the study, the result focus and written communication were determined with the lowest numerical ratings. These findings served as the basis and reference of the researcher in the creation of framework for continuing professional development program for teachers. Results revealed that: (a) among the core behavioral competencies, Result Focus was identified as the focal point for improvement; (b) among the core skill competencies, Written Communication was found to be the top priority. However, in the summary of results and interpretation, it showed that teachers consistently performed their core behavioral and skill competencies.
