A Mathematical Modelling Task on Measles Outbreak in Senior High School

As the researcher conduct the study on the Mathematical modeling task on measles outbreak in Senior High School. This study aims to engage students through a mathematical task based on mathematics problem solving approach.

The qualitative research method was used in this study to describe the theory and application of mathematical modeling task on measles outbreak in Senior High School, in the subject General Mathematics, using Microsoft Excel application in order to strengthen their mathematical creativity and critical thinking skills in real life situations. The utilization of technology, such as laptop, smart TV and projector, was so important in conducting the task for it facilitated the students’ appreciation and engagement in the said activity. The developed instructional materials integrating mathematical modeling could be used by other mathematics teachers to train the students on mathematical modeling activities that would apply them in real- life situations. The use of instructional materials on other topics in Mathematics integrating mathematical modeling should be developed, hence, making the classroom conducive for learning wherein students can practically perform mathematical tasks.
