Tracing the Correlation Between Learners’ Attitude to Writing and Quality of Essay

This study aimed to trace the relationship between the learners' attitude toward writing and the quality of their essays. Specifically, it sought to determine the attitude of Grade 9 ESL learners towards writing in terms of feelings, beliefs, and behavior and the essay's quality in terms of content, organization, grammar, and overall quality. The researcher employed quantitative method by administering a writing attitude survey and essay writing tasks among 120 Grade 9 students of Luis Palad Integrated High School. The respondents showed moderately favorable attitude toward writing and their evaluated essays revealed that the learners can create an essay and observe the aspects that developed their outputs' quality. Lastly, attitude in terms of feelings, beliefs, and behavior has significant relationship with quality of the essays in terms of content, grammar, and organization.
