An Assessment Tool on Homeroom Teachers' Facilitation Skills for Students' Counseling Needs

The purpose of this study is to develop a tool for assessing teachers' facilitation skills needed in addressing students' counseling needs in the school context. The study discusses the process of developing the tool from conceptualization to item generation and psychometric analysis. Focus-group discussion (FGD) was conducted with selected homeroom teachers to identify the facilitation skills that teachers use or think they need to have. The qualitative themes that emerged from the FGD were used as basis for the development of items for the assessment tool. Initially, there were 72 items constructed and subjected to content validation and vocabulary evaluation by selected experts.
