Status of Implementation of Special Program in the Arts (SPA)
Synopsis
This study aimed to evaluate the status of implementation of special program in the arts in Isabela. This program was created by the Department of Education (DepEd) Memorandum No. 135 s. 2001 to cultivate the talents and skills of every Filipino youth. This study adopted the ABCD model developed by. Dr. Jesus A. Ochave (1993) to determine the discrepancies of intent and actualities. It also seek the level of implementation of SPA based on the following components. Philosophy/Vision/Objectives; Recruitment Program; Curriculum and Instruction; Competence of Teachers; Support Program and Linkages; Facilities and Equipment; and Evaluation and Assessment. This study principally anchored on the descriptive research design. The respondents are selected randomly. Results of the study as to the implementation of SPA is generally “best” according to the perception of the respondents. There is a strong partnership of school to the stakeholders or the community, however, there are inadequacy of facilities and equipment in schools. Finally, the results made possible for the researcher to develop and continue to study the implementation of special program in the arts for better implementation of the program.
