Indigenized Material in Understanding the Content and Processes
Synopsis
The primary aim of this study was the development and validation of the Indigenized Material on Matter for grade seven (7) students to improve their low performance in the field of Chemistry. This study the followed process of instrumentation with these three main phases: preparation, development, and validation in developing the Indigenized Material on Matter 7. Indigenous materials were integrated in the lesson following the PNU ACES and Inquiry Based approaches in the formulation of the material. The developed and validated Indigenized Material on Matter 7 were evaluated by the experts in Science teaching using an adopted assessment tool. The result showed high agreement among the evaluators. The developed Indigenized Materials were also tried out and were found highly significant in improving their performance. Based on the gathered data, the developed and validated Indigenized Materials on Matter 7 can serve as alternative instructional materials for grade 7 lessons on Matter. It is recommended that further studies may be conducted to produce additional sets of indigenized materials for grade 7 Science corresponding to the lessons in the three other quarters of the school year.
