Development and Validation of Contextualized Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Modules Using Kolb’s Model

Disasters often follow natural hazards. A disaster's severity depends on how much impact a hazard has on society and the environment. The scale of the impact in turn depends on the choices made by humanity to their lives and for their environment. These choices relate to how they grow their food, where and how they build their homes, what kind of government they have, how financial system works and even what they teach in schools. Each decision and action makes individuals more vulnerable to disasters - or more resilient to them. Disaster Readiness and Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) is a concept and practice of lowering disaster risks by systematically analyzing and reducing disastercausing elements. Disaster risk reduction has disciplines as catastrophe preparedness, disaster management, and disaster mitigation. Moreover, disaster risk reduction is also a part of long-term development (Bettum, 2012). As a global concern, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (Palazzo, 2021), stated that there will be lots of disasters to be experienced worldwide due to climate change.
