Play-Based Games for Oral English Language Learning of Five Year Old EFL Children
Synopsis
This study aimed at developing play-based games and activities for 5 year old foreign children to support their English language skills.
Based on the results of the preliminary assessment topics for the materials were identified. Based on identified topics, the material was designed and developed. The proposed play-based games were comprised of 12 activities designed for the use of children as English as their foreign language. Activities are appropriate for their level, social and communication areas are incorporated in the lessons. The activities followed the 5 E’s Instructional Model. It comprised of the following parts: 1. Engage 2. Explore 3. Explain 4. Elaborate 5. Evaluate. The 5 E's allows students and teachers to experience common activities, to use and build on prior knowledge and experience, to construct meaning, and to continually assess their understanding of a concept.
