Synopsis

This study focuses on the development of a behavior modification instructional toolkit for teachers teaching children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The strategies included in the toolkit are Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and use of technology. In data collection, the researcher used descriptive and developmental research. The findings showed that ABA and DTT were occasionally utilized while the use of technology is not evident. The study concluded that special education teachers were not fully familiar with the terminologies associated with ABA and DTT and they were unaware that their practices were aligned to these approaches. Additionally, the special education teachers expressed their need for guidance and support to enhance their current behavior modification methodologies. By utilizing the toolkit, teachers can have access to guided approaches, examples and materials in ABA and DTT implementations which can lead to a more effective behavior modification technique for children with ASD.
