Correlational Research Design is just one of the research designs that you can use when you create your research in your field of study. In the video, you learn more about what is correlational research design, its characteristics, its types and examples, as well as how to use correlational design in your future research. Correlational research design investigates relationships between variables without the researcher controlling or manipulating any of them. It is non-experimental, backward-looking, as well as dynamic. The variables in this design doesn't need to be manipulated, unlike other research designs. The correlation of the variables presented in the research are not constant, meaning it could eventually change in the future. The research observes and measures the recent historical relationship that exists between the two variables. The design is classified as positive, negative, or zero, in terms of the chosen variables. Positive correlation is described as a direct relationship between the two variables. An increase or decrease in one variable leads to the increase or decrease in the other variable. Negative correlation is described as an inverse relationship between the two variables. An increase in one variable leads to the decrease of the other, and vice versa. Zero correlation means that the two variables do not have correlation with one another. The design can be done in three ways: Naturalistic Observation, Archival Data, or Survey Method. In this way, you can utilize the use of correlational research design.
