While others call it paradigms, epistemologies and ontologies or broadly conceived research methodologies, Creswell uses the term worldview as which means " a basic set of beliefs that guide action" He sees worldview as a general orientation about the world and the nature of the research that the researcher holds. Creswell characterizes worldviews in terms of postpositivism, constructivism, advocacy/participatory and pragmatism. In postpositivism, positivists accepts the scientific method as the research approach. The issues examined by postpositivists mirror the need to recognize and evaluate the causes that impact results, like found in tests. Social constructivism worldview often found as an approach in the qualitative research but can also serve as the foundation of quantitative research. Social contructivists hold speculation that people look for comprehension of the world in which they live and work. An adovacy/participatory worldview holds that research inquiry needs to be ravel with politics and political agenda. This philosophical worldview focuses on the needs of groups or individuals in our society that maybe underestimated or vulnerable. Pragmatisim as worldview emerges out of activities, circumstances, and outcomes rather than predecessor conditions. In pragmatism, instead of focusing on the methods researchers underline the exploration issue and utilize all methodologies accessible to comprehend the issue.
