Synopsis

The study aimed to establish the effect of the different media of instruction in Science and Health to the achievement of Grade five pupils on the topics: Energy and Earth. Competencies in these two chapters: Energy and Earth, were taken from 2010 Philippine Elementary Learning Competencies (PELC) of the Department of Education. Quasi experimental Non-equivalent control group design was used to 135 participants from three intact classes which were purposively grouped as the control group exposed to plain English instruction, experimental group A to Filipino and experimental group B to mixed Filipino and English languages. The pre-test/posttest used was in English language while other researcher-made instruments such as lesson plans and instructional materials matched the media of instructions where congruency was observed on their contents.
