A Succession Planning Model for Academic Heads

The study identified the practices, issues and concerns, and key elements of a succession planning model for academic heads for the five private sectarian schools. It was conducted in school year 2018-2019, and participated by 58 religious administrators and lay academic heads and teachers from the five private sectarian schools which are located in NCR (2), Region III (2) and Region IV-A (1). These schools are managed by a religious congregation. Using the key features of participatory method, workshops, focus group discussion, and interviews were conducted for data gathering. The Key Judgment (KJ) technique was used during the workshops, and the questions asked were validated by six experts. Three test runs were conducted using the KJ technique in order to determine its appropriateness in the study. After every test run, experts were consulted for the improvement of the questions and the conduct of the workshops. The test run participants who were not the actual participants recommended its usefulness for the study. During the focus group discussion and interviews, the participants were asked to give their comments and inputs on the initial data that were gathered.
