Towards the Development of an Intervention Program on Selected Non-Intellective Skills for Grade 2 Pupils
Synopsis
Developmental transition is a vital part of a middle childhood learner's non-intellective skills (NIS) development. Social, motivation and personality skills development are among the NIS in the learning process. The study described the level of maturity of three NIS of Grade 2 pupils. The researcher used the descriptive-developmental research design. Two standardized instruments that measure academic self-regulation and self-concept (translated into Filipino) and the Temperament Inventory for Pre-school (TIP) were administered to 362 Grade 2 learners and 8 classroom advisers respectively. The findings of the study revealed that majority of learner-respondents have a high level of academic self-regulation skills. There is a moderately high level of general self-concept skills and a low to moderate level of temperament skills. An Intervention Program (IP) was designed based on these findings. The Three "i" Intervention Program (3iIP) is composed of three approaches (infused, integrated and interactive) addressing the three levels of the learners needs.
